Softball Recap: Octorara Area Takes a Loss

Octorara Area had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it six. They came up short against the Kennard-Dale Rams, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Braves couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Kennard-Dale, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average this season.

For Kennard-Dale's part, Taylor Rinaudo and Taryn Ashenfelter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Rinaudo tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ashenfelter tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rinaudo went 1-for-3 with four RBI, while Ashenfelter went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those four RBI gave Rinaudo a new career-high.

In other batting news, Elaina Zabkowski was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Maddie Argiro was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Octorara Area will venture away from home to challenge Columbia at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kennard-Dale, they will host Middletown at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
