Softball Recap: North Salinas Takes a Loss

North Salinas extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Monterey Dores. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dores this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 on April 2nd.

As for Monterey, they pushed their record up to 15-3-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For Monterey's part, Ella Myers made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Myers was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jaelyn Taylor was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Denae Lee was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

North Salinas wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-3 defeat against Hollister on the 2nd. As for Monterey, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-1 win against Watsonville on the 2nd.
