Basketball Game Preview: Johnson City Eagles vs. Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats

The Johnson City Eagles will square off against the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Johnson City is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 64-23 victory over Charlotte. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Trojans are ranked 1210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Skidmore-Tynan blew past Freer, posting a 50-16 win.

Skidmore-Tynan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.7 points over those games. As for Johnson City, their victory bumped their record up to 26-8.

Johnson City skirted past Skidmore-Tynan 45-42 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Johnson City repeat their success, or does Skidmore-Tynan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
