Softball Game Preview: Escondido Cougars vs. Westview Wolverines

After both having extra time off, the Escondido Cougars and the Westview Wolverines will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Escondido has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Escondido is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Mt. Carmel last Wednesday. They lost 12-1 to the Sundevils. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Sundevils recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Westview unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak last Saturday. They fell just short of Point Loma by a score of 5-4.

Sierra Wallace was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kiana Rodriguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleya Colon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Escondido's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Westview, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6-1.
