Baseball Game Preview: South Pike Eagles vs. Lawrence County Cougars

For the second straight game, South Pike will face off against Lawrence County. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South Pike has struggled recently with 16 losses in a row, while Lawrence County will arrive with five straight wins.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for South Pike's offense. They lost 20-0 to Lawrence County on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Lawrence County's part, Lane Harvey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Harvey a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lawrence County let Hagan Evans and Weston Dunaway run wild. Evans went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Dunaway went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Evans has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Bryce Prestridge, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Lawrence County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .778. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive games.

South Pike's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Lawrence County, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
