Baseball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short

Coronado lost against Sierra Vista back in March of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Coronado Cougars took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions.

Coronado got a good showing from Chase Delprete, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Coronado saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Moreno Jackson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Coronado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sierra Vista, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Coronado and Sierra Vista will both be playing Desert Oasis the next time they take the field. Coronado will head out to face Desert Oasis at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, while Sierra Vista will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
