Fossil Ridge faced Pueblo South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The SaberCats walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Colts. Winning may never get old, but the SaberCats sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

While Fossil Ridge might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Pueblo South scored at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19.

Connor Switala paced Fossil Ridge's offense, picking up 16 kills. Switala got some help from Joshua Lamsma and his 29 assists. Lamsma also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Trevor Baldwin, racking up two apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Pueblo South lost, don't look at Luke Vasquez. Despite the final result, he had 18 digs. Vasquez has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times he's played.

Fossil Ridge's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. As for Pueblo South, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.

Fossil Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Valor Christian on the 12th. As for Pueblo South, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Cheyenne Mountain on the 12th.
