Baseball Preview: Mercer County Golden Eagles vs. Eureka Hornets

The Mercer County Golden Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Eureka Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mercer County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Mercer County had to settle for an 11-9 loss against Newman Central Catholic. Mercer County has not had much luck with Newman Central Catholic recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, Eureka entered their tilt with Delavan with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday.

Mercer County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Eureka, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.
