Weldon Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Bethune Bobcats by a score of 61-48. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Bethune still got an impressive performance from Ismael Perla, who rushed for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 92 yards and one TD while completing 87.5% of his passes. Perla also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making 16 total tackles. Angel Millan was another key player, gaining 168 total yards and a touchdown.

Coming up, Weldon Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Briggsdale at 7:00 p.m. The game will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Bethune, they will head out to face off against Cotopaxi at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
