Basketball Recap: Peekskill Falls Despite Big Games from Jealina Searight and Nai'lah Smalls

Peekskill lost against Edgemont back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Peekskill Red Devils fell 44-34 to the Edgemont Panthers. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nai'Lah Smalls and Jealina Searight certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Smalls went 5-for-10 en route to 10 points in addition to six blocks and five rebounds, while Searight posted 11 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Smalls a new career-high in blocks.

Peekskill's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Edgemont, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season.

Coming up, Peekskill will challenge Port Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Edgemont has already played their next matchup (against Ardsley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
