The Sheridan Generals will challenge the Utica Redskins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sheridan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
Sheridan's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Crooksville 14-0. The win continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Ceramics: they've now won seven in a row.
Tyler Turnes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Hupp, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Connor Roshon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Utica). They had just enough and edged out Licking Heights 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Redskins have posted since April 29, 2024.
Utica let Gavin Tussey and Gaige Spray run wild. Tussey went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Spray went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Utica's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Sheridan, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Utica's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sheridan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. It's a different story for Utica, though, as they've only averaged .310. Will they be able to contain Sheridan's hitters?
Sheridan beat Utica 6-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Redskins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
