Baseball Game Preview: Prosser Mustangs vs. East Valley Red Devils

Prosser is 0-10 against East Valley since May of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Mustangs will host the Red Devils at 11:00 a.m. Prosser has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Prosser fell victim to Othello and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Huskies, falling 14-0.

Meanwhile, East Valley waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Wildcats. Considering the Red Devils have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaxon Byerlein and Brock Goodell dominated on the mound. Byerlein struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk), while Goodell pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Blake Gibbons was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew McDaniel, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

East Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in three consecutive contests.

East Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Prosser, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
