Baseball Recap: Sidney's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Sidney had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Fairborn Skyhawks on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Yellowjackets also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Michael Frazier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ethan New was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Zavier Perry, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Sidney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Sidney's record now sits at 4-12. As for Fairborn, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11-1 record this season.

Sidney is taking a road trip to face off against Northmont at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Thunderbolts will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. Fairborn will be paying especially close attention to Sidney's matchup: after Sidney faces off against Northmont, they'll take on Fairborn again at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
