Softball Recap: Delaware Academy's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

If Delaware Academy was riding high fresh off their 23-8 takedown of Harpursville on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Afton Knights on Monday. The loss was the Bulldogs' first of the season.

Leah Dennis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Leah Young was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Delaware Academy fell to 4-1. As for Afton, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Delaware Academy will venture away from home to take on Walton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Afton, they will face off against Sidney at 4:30 p.m. on May 6.
