Recap: Northwood Rangers vs. Vanlue Wildcats
The Northwood Rangers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Vanlue by a score of 41-29. Given Northwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Vanlue is ranked 718th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Northwood to victory were Natalie Thompson and Autumn Schroeder. Thompson scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Schroeder dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Thompson scored 15 or more points.
Vanlue's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mara Simon, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Lexi Brooks was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Northwood's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Vanlue, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Northwood will head out on the road to face off against Evergreen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vanlue will be home for the holidays to greet Ada at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ada is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
