Football Recap: Gainesville Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Gainesville fell victim to Lecanto and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Panthers and fell 42-0. The Hurricanes lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 24-7 score last time.

JAI-SHAWN SANFORD threw for 32 yards on six of 13 attempts. On the ground, KEIHONEST PERRY rushed for 51 yards.

Lecanto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jt Tipton led the charge by throwing for 255 yards and four TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes. What's more, Tipton racked up 154.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Another pass catcher making a difference was Ryder Pollard, who picked up 118 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Gainesville's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lecanto, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Gainesville will venture away from home to take on Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lecanto, they will welcome Crystal River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
