Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Saks' Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Saks had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Wellborn Panthers with a sharp 46-22 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 23 points or more this season.

Saks found their leader in sophomore Meorri English, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jakailynn Carter, who earned six points and five assists.

Saks was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Saks has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Wellborn, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coincidentally, Saks and Wellborn will both be playing Randolph County the next time they take the court. Wellborn will head out to face Randolph County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while Saks will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
