Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Walnut Ridge

Walnut Ridge won the last time they faced Independence, and Marquis Lucas did his part to make sure it happened again. The Walnut Ridge Scots claimed a resounding 71-31 win over the Independence 76ers thanks in part to Lucas, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 17 points and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played dating back to last season.

The victory (which was Walnut Ridge's third in a row) raised their record to 8-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Independence, their loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Walnut Ridge will look to defend their home court on Friday against Marion-Franklin at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Walnut Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Independence, they will head out to square off against Eastmoor Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastmoor Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.
