Football Recap: Lowndes' Rushing Dominance Continues

Lowndes had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 37-16 margin over the Collins Hill Eagles on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won nine contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Lowndes got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayce Johnson out in front who threw for 131 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 36 yards and one score. What's more, Johnson racked up 122.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September. Ar'Tavian Brown also helped with two touchdowns in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lowndes was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 164 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lowndes' defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jeremiah Davis, Malik Reddick, and Kayden Allen, who each picked up one sack apiece. Lowndes received some extra help from Damarion Treadwell, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

When it comes to explaining why Collins Hill lost, don't look at Atticus Joseph. Despite the final result, he picked up 140 receiving yards and one TD. Joseph was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 50 yards.

Lowndes' win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Collins Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Lowndes didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 29-17 defeat against North Gwinnett on the 21st. Collins Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
