Basketball Recap: Pleasant Valley Falls Short of King's Academy in the Playoffs

Pleasant Valley and King's Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Pleasant Valley had to settle for second. They came up short against the King's Academy Knights, falling 68-47. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Knights are ranked 42nd).

When it comes to explaining why Pleasant Valley lost, don't look at Alex Garnica. Despite the final result, he posted ten points. Those ten points gave Garnica a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keith Thompson, who had nine points and three steals.

Pleasant Valley's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-12. As for King's Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-4.

Pleasant Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for King's Academy, they will face off against Aptos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in King's Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 23 games.
