Basketball Game Preview: Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains vs. Calvert Senecas

Hopewell-Loudon and Calvert are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains will head out to square off against the Calvert Senecas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopewell-Loudon is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, Hopewell-Loudon came up short against Gibsonburg and fell 43-35. While losing is never fun, the Chieftains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 598th, while the Golden Bears are ranked 277th).

Meanwhile, Calvert had just enough and edged St. Joseph Central Catholic out 45-42 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Senecas have posted against the Crimson Streaks since December 7, 2021.

Hopewell-Loudon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Calvert, their record is now 12-2.

Hopewell-Loudon lost to Calvert on the road by a decisive 53-39 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Calvert's Alyssa Rishty, who posted 30 points.
