Baseball Recap: Syracuse Comes Up Short

Syracuse had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-14 to make it seven. They came up short against the West Field Longhorns, falling 11-1. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Longhorns apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Syracuse saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Crosby Albright, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Albright has hit this season.

As for West Field, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games.

On West Field's side, Bryce Bagby looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Bagby has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wyatt Penrod was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brady Penland, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

While Syracuse had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
