The King's Way Christian Knights will challenge the La Center Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. King's Way Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, King's Way Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Castle Rock and fell 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Knights have suffered against the Rockets since April 25, 2022.
Grace Wickum made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Lewis, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Prairie hit La Center with a 11-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats lost 18-6 to the Falcons.
Lauren Baker was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Billie Ross was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
King's Way Christian's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.75 runs. As for La Center, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. King's Way Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .390. However, it's not like La Center struggles in that department as they've averaged .378. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
King's Way Christian might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from La Center in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
