Basketball Recap: Academic Magnet Takes a Loss

Academic Magnet was the 68-33 winner over Charleston Collegiate when they last played one another back in November of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Academic Magnet Raptors fell 59-48 to the Charleston Collegiate Sundevils on Tuesday.

Grant Morrison continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Charleston Collegiate, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten assists. Morrison's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Clayton Smith was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Academic Magnet's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Charleston Collegiate, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academic Magnet will welcome Andrews at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Academic Magnet is facing Andrews at the right time seeing as Andrews is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Charleston Collegiate, they and Palmetto Scholars Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Charleston Collegiate knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Palmetto Scholars Academy likes a good challenge.
