Baseball Recap: Presbyterian Christian Starts Season with Victory Against Simpson Academy

Presbyterian Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Simpson Academy Cougars by a score of 9-5. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Seth Hataway made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hataway was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jet Henderson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Brennon Thoms was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Presbyterian Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Simpson Academy only posted an OBP of .333.

Simpson Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.

Presbyterian Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Columbia Academy on the 15th. As for Simpson Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Madison-Ridgeland Academy on the 14th.
