The Mountain Brook Spartans will challenge the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Brook is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.8 goals per game this season.

On Monday, Mountain Brook came up short against Vestavia Hills and fell 4-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost four in a row.

Carson Hahn and Thompson Jones scored both of Mountain Brook's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 24 goals.

Meanwhile, John Carroll Catholic kept a clean sheet against Bayside Academy on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Admirals with a sharp 5-0 win. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Admirals are ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mountain Brook's loss dropped their record down to 10-3-1. As for John Carroll Catholic, they now have a winning record of 8-7-1.
