Iain Carner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooks Hendrix, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Charlie Messmer also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Highlands always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boone County only posted an OBP of .125.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lloyd Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Scott 2-1 on Wednesday.

Lloyd Memorial's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Highlands hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. It's a different story for Lloyd Memorial, though, as they've only averaged .218. Will they be able to contain Highlands' hitters?
Everything went Highlands' way against Lloyd Memorial in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Highlands made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluebirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
