Basketball Recap: Vandegrift Takes a Loss

Vandegrift lost against Stony Point back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Vandegrift Vipers took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stony Point Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Vipers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Tigers are ranked 18th).

Stony Point's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Courtney Ratliffe led the charge by going 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and three steals. That's the most steals Ratliffe has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Short, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Vandegrift is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-9. As for Stony Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Vista Ridge the next time they take the court. Stony Point will host Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Vandegrift will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st.
