Baseball Recap: Burlingame Wins Going Away Against San Mateo

It was a proper cat-fight when Burlingame challenged San Mateo on Thursday. The Burlingame Panthers blew past the San Mateo Bearcats 11-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted since February 24, 2024.

Burlingame got a great performance from Dionisios Vorrises as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Vorrises has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grayson Howard, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Slade Flores, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Burlingame and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs over those games. As for San Mateo, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Burlingame is headed away from home for the first time to take on Aragon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Mateo, they will host Washington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
