Basketball Game Preview: Portage Central Mustangs vs. Coldwater Cardinals

The Portage Central Mustangs will face off against the Coldwater Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Portage Central didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Norrix, but they still walked away with a 58-54 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coldwater). They secured a 56-50 W over Olivet on Wednesday.

Portage Central's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Coldwater, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything went Portage Central's way against Coldwater in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as Portage Central made off with a 78-56 victory. Does Portage Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coldwater turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
