Basketball Game Preview: Tioga Pirates vs. Surrey Mustangs

The Tioga Pirates will be taking part in a tournament against the Surrey Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Tioga had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least 55 points, but Kenmare/Bowbells put an end to it on Saturday. Tioga had to suffer through a 62-22 loss at the hands of Kenmare/Bowbells. The game marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Surrey beat Glenburn 54-48 on Saturday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Panther recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Surrey's win came from a few key players Tioga will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sienna Klimpel, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds. Laney Will was another key player, putting up 15 points and five assists.

Surrey's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Tioga, their loss dropped their record down to 21-3.

Tioga took their victory against Surrey in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 81-59. In that contest, Tioga amassed a halftime lead of 40-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
