Softball Recap: Ray Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Ray had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the San Simon Longhorns.

Jillian Figueroa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Ray let Julissa Garcia and Krishel Sims run wild. Garcia went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Sims scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most hits Garcia has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Servant, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Ray hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.

Ray's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for San Simon, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, Ray will square off against Miami at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Simon, they will challenge Duncan at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
