Baseball Recap: St. John Paul II Triumphs

St. John Paul II let Archbishop Williams stack six runs on them in the second inning on Tuesday but luckily St. John Paul II prevailed anyway. The Lions walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Bishops. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Bishops: they've now won three in a row.

Henry Roy made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Our, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April. Colin Buckley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

St. John Paul II's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Archbishop Williams, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John Paul II will take on Carver at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Archbishop Williams, they will square off against Newton South at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
