Softball Recap: Archbishop Mitty Gets the Win

While Archbishop Mitty's win against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Monarchs narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Fightin' Irish 2-1. The Monarchs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Fightin' Irish on Wednesday, too.

Kyleigh Mace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Archbishop Mitty's win bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Coming up, Archbishop Mitty will square off against Presentation at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Monarchs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they will face off against Valley Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fightin' Irish's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
