Baseball Game Preview: Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes vs. Minersville Battlin' Miners

The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes will face off against the Minersville Battlin' Miners at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Schuylkill Haven blew Tri-Valley out of the water the last time the pair played, but last Wednesday Tri-Valley got their revenge. The Hurricanes fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Hurricanes couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Minersville, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Marian Catholic 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Minersville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Schuylkill Haven, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 17-4 record.

Schuylkill Haven skirted past Minersville 6-4 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hurricanes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
