Softball Game Preview: Brackenridge Eagles vs. Edison Golden Bears

Brackenridge hasn't had much luck against Edison recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. Brackenridge has given up an average of 18.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Brackenridge's offense. They came up short against Highlands on Tuesday, falling 16-0. Having soared to a lofty 26 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Brackenridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joselynn Herrera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Herrera has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Meanwhile, Edison had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Jefferson with a sharp 16-6 win on Tuesday.

Serenity Lizcano was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Melanie Medrano was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Edison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only posted an OBP of .360.

Brackenridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Edison, their record is now 3-10.

Brackenridge suffered a grim 28-11 defeat to Edison in their previous meeting on March 3rd. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
