Baseball Game Preview: Bethel Bruins vs. York Falcons

The Bethel Bruins will square off against the York Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Bethel's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so York's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Bethel's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Gloucester hitters got past them. The Bruins fell 10-6 to the Dukes on Thursday. The Bruins have struggled against the Dukes recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Conner Lamb put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bethel is 6-3 when Lamb allows two or fewer hits, but 1-3 otherwise. Lamb was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Lamb wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josh Flicek, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another was Ryder Zeman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, York didn't have quite enough to beat New Kent on Wednesday and fell 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by just one run.

This is the second loss in a row for York and nudges their season record down to 5-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Bethel, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
