Softball Recap: Brewer Has No Trouble Against Cullman

Brewer barely beat Cullman the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Brewer Patriots were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Cullman Bearcats on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Gracie Lawrence was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, she gave up only three walks, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other pitching news, Grace Maddox looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, LC Hamilton was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Abby Summerford was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Brewer's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cullman, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brewer will welcome West Morgan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cullman, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Cullman Bearcats take on Scottsboro Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
