Basketball Game Preview: River Pilots vs. Bellaire Big Reds

The River Pilots are taking a road trip to square off against the Bellaire Big Reds at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, River earned a 51-41 victory over Frontier. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pilots.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Bellaire's strategy against Weir on Tuesday. Bellaire strolled past Weir with points to spare, taking the game 49-30.

Bellaire's win came from a few key players River will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zara Harveth, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten boards. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tamya Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

River pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Bellaire, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.

River was dealt a bruising 61-34 loss at the hands of Bellaire in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
