Softball Game Preview: Mountain Heritage Cougars vs. Swain County Maroon Devils

The Mountain Heritage Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Swain County Maroon Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Heritage has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mountain Heritage managed to slip by Draughn the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cougars lost 12-2 to the Wildcats on Friday. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mountain Heritage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Styles, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Swain County posted their closest win since May 7, 2024 on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Rosman a 1-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Maroon Devils sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Rosman's batters probably weren't too happy with Rylee Rawls, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up three walks). Rawls has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Swain County's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Mountain Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
