Basketball Preview: Gowanda Panthers vs. Eden Raiders
The Gowanda Panthers's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Eden Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Gowanda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 734th, while the Raiders are ranked 276th).
Last Tuesday, Gowanda was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-53 to the Golden Falcons.
Meanwhile, Eden entered their tilt with the Dutchmen with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Eden skirted past the Dutchmen 55-53.
It was another big night for Taesyn Slating, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Wakelam, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Gowanda's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Eden, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Gowanda suffered a grim 66-41 defeat to the Raiders in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Eden's Chris Krencik, who scored 23 points along with five steals. Now that Gowanda knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
