Softball Recap: Samson Takes a Loss

Samson was the 17-0 winner over Geneva County when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Samson Tigers lost 16-6 to the Geneva County Bulldogs on Monday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ally Zorn and Emma Sormrude stepped up to the plate in a big way. Zorn scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Sormrude went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave Zorn a new career-high in doubles (two). Kynlee Sormrude was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Samson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Geneva County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Samson Tigers challenge Florala Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Florala's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Samson's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Geneva County has already played their next match (against Northside Methodist Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
