League recap: Casey's hitting boosts Olive Branch

6A Region 1 league recap: 3/27/13

Clay Casey had the hottest bat in 6A Region 1 this week, racking up a .600 average with five RBIs. Olive Branch went 1-3.

First place in the standings of the league is up for grabs this week, as DeSoto Central sits tied atop the standings with Southaven.

The Jaguars boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

The league boasted eight .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Dallas Saunders, who collected two hits in two at bats for a 1.000 average.

Casey's five RBIs this week put him at the number one spot for the league. Casey has 22 RBIs this season, first in the league.



Casey was an RBI machine on Saturday, as he knocked in five runs during Olive Branch's 20-3 win over Hartfield Academy. He went 3-for-4 and scored three runs.
