Softball Recap: West Point's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

West Point had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cold Springs Eagles a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The Warriors not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th (when they won 15-0).

Kortni Baker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, West Point got a massive performance out of Lauren Wyndham, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Wyndham a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katherine Yovino, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

West Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Point's win bumped their record up to 13-20. As for Cold Springs, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-18-2.

Coming up, West Point will take on Russellville at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cold Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
