Softball Recap: Hamilton Southeastern's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

Hamilton Southeastern dropped their record down to 17-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin Central Flashes. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Flashes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Hamilton Southeastern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Franklin Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On Franklin Central's side, Kiley Renick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Renick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Hamilton Southeastern and Franklin Central are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Royals will challenge Noblesville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Franklin Central, they will take on Mooresville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Flashes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
