Basketball Game Preview: La Joya Coyotes vs. Weslaco Panthers

The La Joya Coyotes are taking a road trip to square off against the Weslaco Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Weslaco will be up against a hot La Joya squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. La Joya strolled past Pharr-San Juan-Alamo with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 69-54. The Coyotes pushed the score to 54-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Weslaco, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 62-42 margin over Economedes on Friday. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Weslaco has also been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for La Joya, their victory bumped their record up to 11-17.
