Basketball Game Recap: Chesnee Eagles vs. Liberty Red Devils

Chesnee hasn't had much luck on the road recently (they'd lost six straight dating back to last season) but thanks in part to Dacie Green that streak is no more. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-36 win over the Liberty Red Devils on Friday for which the team can thank Green, who almost dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 11 boards, and nine steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed seven or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Faith Wall was another key player, putting up six points and six steals. She has become a key player for Chesnee: the team is undefeated when she posts at least three steals, but 2-14 otherwise.

Liberty lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Natalie White, who posted 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Lee, who put up eight points along with 12 boards and five steals.

Chesnee's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-14. As for Liberty, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Chesnee will head out to face off against Palmetto at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Liberty, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Crescent at 6:00 p.m.
