Basketball Recap: Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions vs. Oxford Prep Griffins
Excelsior Classical Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 53-17 defeat at the hands of the Oxford Prep Griffins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Griffins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-18 last Thursday.
Excelsior Classical Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arihanna Williams, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and four steals. That was a full 70.6% of Excelsior Classical Academy's points, marking the 14th time in a row Williams has scored more than a third of the team's points. Shadiamond Francis Service was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.
Excelsior Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Oxford Prep, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-10.
