Softball Game Preview: Verbena Red Devils vs. Autauga Academy Generals

The Verbena Red Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Autauga Academy Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Verbena easily dispatched Dallas County on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Verbena fell just short of Thorsby by a score of 5-3 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Autauga Academy was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They lost 8-2 to Saint James. The Generals' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jacaiya Perry was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Perry wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Teonna Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Davis hit this season.

Verbena's record is now 1-3. As for Autauga Academy, their record is now 5-5.
