Basketball Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Anacostia Indians
Roosevelt is 0-9 against the Indians since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Roosevelt Roughriders will be playing at home against the Anacostia Indians at 5:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (Roosevelt is ranked 14th, while the Indians are ranked eighth).
Roosevelt's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKinley Tech.
Meanwhile, Anacostia didn't have too much trouble with the Trainers on the road on Wednesday as they won 43-26. The win was just what Anacostia needed coming off of a 48-23 defeat in their prior game.
Anacostia's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nayjah Duvall, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ta'shaun Robinson, who scored 14 points.
Roosevelt has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Anacostia, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9.
